AALTER - Scaffolding manufacturer Afix Group in Aalter is not afraid of challenges. In the full Brexit period, British Grand Constructions Products Ltd, a wholesale distributor of scaffolding components, was acquired to gain a foothold in the UK. And now again, in the full Corona crisis period, more than 2 mio euro is being invested in the scaffolding production facility in Istanbul, Turkey. The group is continuing to expand internationally but is also creating new employment locally.
Afix Group is a fast growing dynamic Belgian scaffolding manufacturer with more than 15 years of production experience in multi-directional scaffolding systems. As a vertically integrated steel processing company, it is responsible for the design and production, as well as the rental, sale and financing of modular scaffolding elements in more than 20 countries. Since 2004, Afix Group has been manufacturing professional top quality scaffolding systems for contractors and scaffold builders working in construction, industry (energy, oil & gas), infrastructure, shipyard and events.
Successful through the crisis
Afix Group is very active, also in the economically less favourable Corona period. The group, with 7 foreign branches and headquarters in Aalter, wants to move into the future with a strengthened team. Afix Group is continuously expanding its market. Within Europe, the United Kingdom is, after Germany, the scaffolding market with the greatest potential. Façade scaffolding is currently being built there using the traditional pipe-coupling system. "But the transition to the use of the more efficient multi-directional scaffolding system is in full swing". according to Afix Group CEO Chris Fleurbaey. As a manufacturer and specialist in these scaffolding systems, Afix Group wants to break through in the United Kingdom. In the midst of the Brexit crisis, they took over Grand Construction Products Ltd in 2019. This growth company is located on the NO edge of London. Grand Construction Products was founded 5 years ago and is responsible for the sale, rental and financing of scaffolding projects. The customer potential is mainly in the construction, film and industry sectors. With the acquisition of Grand Construction Products, Afix Group Holding strengthens its position as market leader in smart scaffolding systems.
2 + 2 Mio scaffolding investments
The Afix Group has 2 production sites. In the Netherlands high quality steel scaffolding floors are manufactured and in Turkey all scaffolding tube products are produced.
Between 2015 - 2020 Afix Group invested 2 mio Euro in Rotterdam (Nl) in the expansion of brand new production lines for the production of premium system scaffolding floors.
Now the group is rolling out a similar investment plan in Turkey between 2019 and 2020. In order to guarantee the high quality of the scaffolding elements as well as to further automate the production environment, another 2 million Euro will be invested. In Istanbul (Tr), a high-performance lab has been set up for, among other things, incoming and outgoing control of raw materials and finished scaffolding products. In addition, automatic welding robot streets for aluminium and steel have been installed and the engraving and labelling of scaffolding is fully computer-controlled.
This investment will further put Afix Group on the map as a premium manufacturer and supplier of top quality system scaffolding.
