Forum Agora
surrounded by AFIX Group's scaffolding
MARCH 2021
LILLE - In the centre of Lille, near the Lille Flandres station, two towers will be built in 2022. The current Forum building, with a surface area of 60.000 m2, will be demolished and rebuilt. The other part of the project, called "Agora", will include offices, shops and housing for rent and sale.
Forum project
The project concerns the reconstruction of the Forum building, located on the Delory block in Lille. It should make it possible to group together all of the department's central services, which are currently spread over ten or so sites in Lille.
It will thus make it possible to optimise the authority's expenditure by reducing operating and maintenance costs, by eliminating not only the logistical costs associated with the dispersal of services but also the cost of rent and charges for rented sites. The objective is also to improve the working conditions of departmental employees and to optimise the quality of the reception of the public.
Agora project
The other part of the project, called "Agora", provides for the construction of offices, shops and housing for rent and sale.
This operation also includes the AGORA property development programme of approximately 30,000 m2.
Two footbridges will be created to open up the Germaine Tillon square.
Scaffolding provided by AFIX Group
The Département du Nord is maintaining a tight schedule for the completion of demolitions and new constructions. In order to dismantle 60,000 m2 safely, the contractors are using quality AFIXFAST scaffolding with wrapping film. The project follow-up for delivery, preparation of scaffolding load calculation notes and scaffolding assembly is also in the hands of AFIX Group. The obsolete building contains asbestos. It must be removed safely, away from the environment. To ensure the highest level of safety against dust emissions, AFIX Group uses a shrink wrap around the scaffolding.
