SCAFFOLDING FREE IN 2030
In mid-October 2023, the restoration of the facades of the Brussels Law Courts started. The building restoration covers more than 150,000 m² of natural stone surface. In several phases, the facades on the De Wynantsstraat, Wolstraat and Minimenstraat sides, as well as the facades on the courtyards and ramps, will be tackled. The aim is to make the Courthouse scaffold-free by 2030. In total, this project was budgeted at €31.7m.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
To facilitate the restoration works at height, assembly of birdcage scaffolding with working platforms at each level is necessary. Safe access to these working levels is to be provided by stair towers.
- delivery, assembly/dismantling and inspection of birdcage scaffolding, facade scaffolding and stair towers
- provide loading and height platforms for execution of work close to facades and roof structures
- lightweight tower staircases for passenger access with the exit possibility at various heights
CUSTOMER'S OPINION
To restore the Courthouse to its historical grandeur, first of all the natural stone façade will be thoroughly cleaned and restored. This involves removing dirt and grime and then repairing the carpentry: damaged wooden elements are restored and new glazing is inserted to improve insulation and safety. Safety when carrying out these works at height is a priority. In addition, the productivity of our teams is also key. Afix Fast is a multidirectional scaffolding system that is easy to (dis)assemble and also provides our employees on the work platforms with the safety they need to carry out the restorations professionally.
