EUROPEAN
STANDARDS

European standards EN 12810/12811 are basic documents for scaffold manufacturers. These describe the measures and standards that must be used to construct temporary scaffolding at height.  Certification by external inspection bodies such as TUV, DIBT, TSE, NF, etc. provides extra proof that the standards are met. Certification is mandatory in some countries.

Certified
EN 12810/12811

AFIXFAST scaffolds comply with the European standard.
The EN standard defines a standard set of system configurations and performance requirements for the structural design and assessment of prefabricated scaffolding systems.

The AFIXFAST system scaffolds are designed to support

  • own weight = the weight of the planks, tubes, fences, side boards etc.
  • loads due to use = staff, material storage, wind, snow
  • wind load = depending on the used scaffolding protection and location

certification
NF-096

AFIXFAST X37 with metric dimensions has the NF certificate of conformity for fixed modular system scaffolding as stipulated in the standards:

  • NF EN 12810-1 en 2
  • NF EN 12811-1, 2 en 3
  • Référentiel NF096

This certification has been issued by the inspection body:

AFNOR CERTIFICATION, 11, rue Francis Pressensé, F-93571 La Plaine Saint-Denis
The reference certification NF-096 is available at www.marque-nf.com.

LIGHT & HEAVY
SCAFFOLDING LOADS

In addition to classifications for work platforms and scaffolding access, the European standard also describes weight load classification. The standard classification for scaffold loads describes 6 classes:

  • Class 1 - 0.75 kN/m2
Inspection work or very light work activities with no storage of materials

  • Class 2 - 1.50 kN/m2
Inspection work or work activities with no storage of materials, except those for immediate use
such as: painting, pointing and cleaning

  • Class 3 - 2.00 kN/m2
Idem as class 2, but with a heavier load permitted and limited material storage
    such as: plastering

  • Class 4 - 3.00 kN/m2
Heavier work activities or those requiring heavy tools and building materials
such as: masonry work with material storage

  • Class 5 – 4.50 kN/m2
Work activities using exceptionally heavy building materials
such as: applying prefab concrete elements or heavy maintenance work

  • Class 6 – 6.00 kN/m2
Heavy masonry work or the storage of larger quantities of building materials, construction elements and/or installation components. Supply platform.
